L'Ecurie Holiday Cottage, Lairoux in the Vendée
L'Ecurie Holiday Cottage is situated in the small village of Lairoux, only 15km from the beaches of the Southern Vendée and 10 minutes from Luçon with its many shops, restaurants and pretty park in the centre. The house is set on one level and has two good sized bedrooms - one with two single beds and the other with a king sized bed, single bed, cot and fantastic views over the wetlands in the valley below.
The living room has a 32 inch flat screen TV with UK & French channels, Dvd player and laptop with internet access. There is a separate dining area with a table for up to 6 guests and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you would need for a comfortable holiday. There is also a log burner for the cooler winter months.
Outside, there is a large, private dining area with table, chairs, barbecue and shady pergola, along with views over the pool and gardens.
There is a 12m x 7m heated pool with sun loungers and parasols. The large gardens are great for picnics and playing and there is a huge games room with Xbox 360, Pool Table Table Football, Ping Pong Table, board games, books, DVDs, dressing up clothes and drawing materials. (Suitable for all ages)

Lairoux and the Southern Vendée
The village of Lairoux is only 15km from the fantastic beaches of the Southern Vendée. The area is great for cycling or walking through country lanes and is on the edge of the local Wetlands (Marais Communal de Lairoux), where you can see many migratory birds and other local wildlife. We have even put a telescope in the holiday home so that you can watch the nearby nesting storks!
There is a wide selection of activities all within 30 minutes of the house; such as The Indian Forest Adventure Park, The Chateau des Aventuriers and a Karting Track.
Further afield is the amazing Puy du Fou Theme Park - with its Gladiators, Vikings, Musketeers, Medieval Knights and Bird of Prey show. Not to be missed!
La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré are both popular tourist attractions, as is the Marais Poitevin network of canals and ruined abbeys.

This is the first time for many years we have stayed in a village setting, and we are so glad we did. The house is comfortable, clean and has everything you need for a relaxing break away from it all. You can, in a very short while, be at the beach and a host of other attractions if you want a more lively stay.
Your hosts, Annette & Jason, cannot be more welcoming or helpful. It is not hard to imagine a return visit in the future and just shutting down after the more hectic parts of a long vacation.
P.S. Sorry forgot to say thank you for the wine & biscuits on arrival and your hospitality on the evening of departure.

We felt so welcome, we and our 2 dogs (hope your cat is ok!). You managed to create a piece of heaven on earth. The most stunning sunsets, the garden and the swimming pool - it’s all just perfect.
The house itself is comfortable and nice, and there is everything you can think of and ore is in there. No need to bring anything with you, because it is already there.
The area is full of special places, due to our lack of GPS skills it took us some extra time but we managed to see the highlights and it really tastes like more. Loved our evenings together, talking about all kind of interesting things and having fun.

We decided at last minute to have a break in France and where better than at L'Ecurie in the Vendée!
A couple of days of rain didn't spoil anything. Chilling by the pool and eating langoustines (vivant) from the market in Luçon (open Wed & Sat mornings).
Lovely new restaurants we tried. La Bastide in Luçon (formerly La Mirabelle) open 7/7. Maison Desamy in Mareuil-sur-Lay does a very good lunchtime menu for 25 Euros (3 courses). Also visited one of our favourites La Pousse Pied at La Tranche sur Mer. It is a one Michelin Star only from 35 Euros menu but excellent.

We had a fantastic stay at the L’Ecurie gîte at Maison Lairoux. Annette and Jason were welcoming hosts and the gîte contains everything you would ever need to have a great holiday. We visited with our 3 x Irish Water Spaniels and the gîte was ideally suited for both them and us. We can highly recommend the accommodation and the easy access to nearby beautiful long Sandy beaches. We will definitely return to this accommodation and have already passed their details to several friends who own dogs and our dog groomer who will pass this on to her clients 😀 Thank you so much for a brilliant holiday ❤️. We certainly enjoyed our short stay here in the Gite L'Ecurie in Lairoux.
It was very comfortable and well-equipped for a family visit.
The Wifi was excellent, especially needed when you have a teenager in tow.
Our favourite time was evening drinks, with something local in our glasses, and sitting on the terrace looking out over the estuary.
We also enjoyed our time walking on the beaches, which are close, and visiting La Rochelle. Lots to do even in winter.
We shall return!

Nous avons été superbement accueilli par Annette et Jason. La maison est très bien équipée et qui plus est accepte les chiens. La piscine est entourée de transats très confortables et on peut aussi bénéficier d'une salle de jeux avec ping pong, billard et de nombreux DVD. Il y a aussi une salle de fitness avec de nombreuses machines. Bref on avait de quoi s'occuper en plus des nombreuses visites dans le environs ( marais poitevin, plages, la Rochelle, île de ré,...)

Delighted that we managed to visit L’Ecurie this year. Different in September as we usually come for Winter breaks. It has been a fabulous week chilling out by the pool, weather glorious sunny warm 29 degrees, enjoying a glass or 2 of wine with Annette & Jason our very welcoming hosts/friends who are knowledgeable about all of the area.
We enjoyed a new restaurant this time ‘Les Reflets’ at La Roche sur Yon – a Michelin style restaurant – thoroughly recommend – great lunch at 22 Euros. Lovely lunch again at ‘Au Fils de Saison’ sitting out on the terrace – a first for us.

Thank you Annette & Jason for a wonderful month at L’Ecurie – our 4th visit here ! The welcome, hospitality and friendliness is outstanding – they are both great hosts and friends. L’Ecurie is so well equipped with everything you need, especially the fabulous pool, games room and sunsets. We’ve spent so many lovely evenings by the pool, having BBQs and sharing the ‘odd’ glass of vin.
The boys (aged 19 & 21) loved the Atlantic Wake Park and the Wipe Out circuit at L’Aiguillon sur Mer ; and we all loved and enjoyed the zoo in Mervent, where the animals have lots of freedom.

We have enjoyed our stay at Maison Lairoux!! It was really relaxing, the swimming pool, reading in the garden, playing games. Visiting little towns like Jard sur Mer, L’Aiguillon sur Mer etc.. and especially Ile de Ré!

Thank you Annette & Jason for a wonderful month at L’Ecurie – our 4th visit here ! The welcome, hospitality and friendliness is outstanding – they are both great hosts and friends. L’Ecurie is so well equipped with everything you need, especially the fabulous pool, games room and sunsets. We’ve spent so many lovely evenings by the pool, having BBQs and sharing the ‘odd’ glass of vin.
The boys (aged 19 & 21) loved the Atlantic Wake Park and the Wipe Out circuit at L’Aiguillon sur Mer ; and we all loved and enjoyed the zoo in Mervent, where the animals have lots of freedom.

Thank you very much for your welcoming us as if we came home.
We have enjoyed our stay at Maison Lairoux!! It was really relaxing, the swimming pool, reading in the garden, playing games. Visiting little towns like Jard sur Mer, L’Aiguillon sur Mer etc.. and especially Ile de Ré!
Also, our dog Noah enjoyed it, certainly during the walk in the Valley de l’Yon

This was our first visit to the Vendée and certainly won’t be our last! Jason & Annette, what can we say, as thank you doesn’t seem to be enough!
Fantastic hosts, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for you (even Macintosh!). Great recommendations especially Vallée de Yon, Parc Floral, O’Gliss Water Park, J Mourat Wines and the friendly staff & excellent food at L’Aubraie in Lavaud.
Maison Lairoux is a brilliant family and dog friendly holiday and you both made our stay extra special. A bientôt.

Firstly, thank you for arranging such fantastic sunny weather for our visit. Felt like we had stepped into Spring, but it’s February! But most of all, thank you for your wonderful hospitality and insider knowledge on the region. Thanks to you we found some beautiful beaches and walks.
The cottage is perfect for families, and very well equipped. The games room was a big hit with my boys. See you again soon!
