Gîtes les Chaffauds is situated in the pretty hamlet of Les Chaffauds, only a 3 minute drive to Sainte Cécile which has a bakery, bar and other amenities. Chantonnay is less than 10 minutes away, and here you will find many restaurants, supermarkets and other attractions.

The owners have restored these old farmhouses and they are now very comfortable and well proportioned holiday homes. There are two holiday homes and these are rented as one property for up to 10 guests - so are ideal for a large family or friends who want to spend their holiday together, but have a bit more space.

Les Ammonites Holiday Cottage

• 3 bedroom house for up to 6 guests
• Open plan ground floor and off-road parking.
• The living room has a TV with UK & French satellite channels, DVD player and wood burner
• There is a dining table for 6 guests
• Kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs.
• Upstairs, there are three bedrooms; one with a double bed, and two with two single beds each.
• A shower room and separate WC are on this floor as well.

La Maison du Soleil Holiday Cottage

• 2 bedroom house for up to 4 guests
• Cosy lounge with wood burner, TV with UK and French channels
• Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine
• Ground floor shower room and WC
• Upstairs: A large double bedroom and a twin bedroom with two single beds

A cot, high chair, stair gates and plastic cutlery & crockery are available for younger children if required.

Please note, bed linens and towels (hand, bath & tea towels) are NOT provided with this rental. Please bring your own bed linens, towels and beach towels.

Wi-Fi access is available for both houses.

Outside, there is a large courtyard garden with an al fresco dining area and barbecue. Beyond the courtyard is the large garden, with heated pool and children's play area. The above-ground pool is 4.5m in diameter and is surrounded by sun loungers. The garden is laid to lawns and has several seating areas where you can watch the sun go down whilst sipping a glass of the local wine!

Both houses share the courtyard garden, main garden and pool. The owners live on-site and are there to offer advice during your holiday.

Gîtes les Chaffauds is set in the hamlet of Les Chaffauds which is surrounded by lovely countryside. There are miles of country lanes to wander or cycle along, and several nearby lakes where you can fish or watch the local flora and fauna.

The towns of Sainte Cécile and Chantonnay are close by, and have many shops, restaurants and supermarkets. Many of the local villages have their own restaurants, many with great views over lakes and forests.

The beaches are about 50 minutes away - with Les Sables d'Olonne and La Tranche being the closest. Also, one of the large nearby lakes has opened a beach area - with lots of activities and entertainment throughout the summer.

There are many other tourist attractions within 30 minutes - including the fantastic Puy du Fou Theme Park - a great day out for all of the family. (Gladiators, Vikings, Musketeers and a Bird of Prey show, along with a sound and light show ending in an amazing firework display.)

The forests and lakes at Mervent, the artist showrooms at Vouvant and the ruined abbeys at Maillezais are all worth a visit. La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré are both popular tourist attractions, as is the Marais Poitevin network of canals and the local wine routes.

Extra Charges:
Out of season central heating and wood - 60€ per week for each house.

Holidays need to start and end on a Saturday in the summer months. The availability is for both houses as they are only rented out together - not individually.

A wonderful few days, we wish we could stay longer. The gite is beautifully done, well equipped-perfect. Beautiful location, serene and tranquil. Isabelle & Paul have been wonderful "hosts !
So lucky with the weather, would highly recommend Puy du Fou - amazing ! Plus the beach in Les Sables d'Olonne.
The boys fell in love with Stanley - we certainly hope to be back Thank you so much !

Très bon séjour dans cette jolie maison avec une histoire racontée par ses charmants propriétaires Paul et Isabelle. Un accueil très chaleureux dans ce gite très fonctionnel. Rien à redire sur ces 4 jours dans cette belle region. Une adresse a retenir sans soucis !!!

We have had a lovely two weeks at the gite. Paul, Isabelle and Stanley have all been really welcoming. We visited loads of places. Our favourite places were :
Puy du Fou, cycling round Noirmoutier, the beach at Les Conches, canoeing on the lake. This is a beautifully restored gite and we hope to come back one day.
