Vendée Holiday Cottages

The Cornflowers Holiday Home is situated in the hamlet of L'Oulerie, only a 5 minute drive to Luçon and its famous cathedral built in the time of Richlieu. The house is found at the end of a small cul-de-sac leading to fields and open countryside. It is a very peaceful location! The house has private off-road parking and the gardens are enclosed for the security of your children.

The house has a bright and airy living room with large leather sofas, Wi-Fi internet access and UK/French TV channels. There is a separate tv/games room with PS4 console, Wii console and a selection of games. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and the large dining table seats 8 guests. A utility room, with washing machine, tumble dryer and extra fridge/freezer is behind the dining area. The family bathroom and separate WC is located on the ground floor.

For younger children, a cot, highchair, stair gates and plastic cutlery & crockery are available.

Upstairs, there are four bedrooms - two with double beds, and two with two single beds each. One of the double bedrooms has an en suite shower room.

Outside, there is a covered seating area with patio table and chairs for al fresco dining, plus a charcoal barbecue. The lawned garden is flat and leads to the 10m x 5m heated swimming pool. This is heated from May until the end of September. The pool has a secure fence and lockable gate surrounding it for the security of your children.

A great holiday location for an extended family or two families sharing.

The Cornflowers is located in one of the hamlets of Lairoux and is only 18km from the sandy beaches of the Southern Vendée. The area is great for cycling and walking - wandering through quiet country lanes. It is on the edge of the local Wetlands (Marais Communal de Lairoux), where you can see many migratory birds and other local wildlife.

There is a wide selection of activities all within 30 minutes of the house; such as The Indian Forest Adventure Park, The Chateau des Aventuriers and a Karting Track.

Further afield is the amazing Puy du Fou Theme Park - with its Gladiators, Vikings, Musketeers, Medieval Knights and Bird of Prey show. Not to be missed!

La Rochelle and the Ile de Ré are both popular tourist attractions, as is the Marais Poitevin network of canals and ruined abbeys.

Our second time here at The Cornflowers and still wonderful! So peaceful, so calm and so relaxing. We enjoyed the pool and the sunshine. La Tranche sur Mer and La Faute have been enjoyable (as ever!) with lots to do - especially the beach at La Tranche.
The new restaurant/patisserie called Le Moulin de Cécile is fabulous…fabulous lemon meringue!
We'll definitely make it a hat-trick and return.

Thank you so much for such a fabulous week at the Cornflowers. What a wonderful week we have had with such great friends. The house is perfect and furnished beautifully, and we have spent plenty of time relaxing by your wonderful pool.
Visits to Les Conches, La Tranche sur Mer - wonderful beaches and a wonderful day cycling in the Ile de Ré. Loved the indoor market in Luçon and visited Vouvant which was very pretty.
Fabulous meal at Moulin de Cécile just outside of the village which we would definitely recommend.

Wonderful location and a lovely place to stay. Even on the cloudy days, the pool was perfect for relaxing. Great restaurants in La Tranche sur Mer, and the festival in Luçon was marvellous.
Day out at the Puy du Fou is a must, haven't experienced anything like it - WOW!!

What a wonderful 2 weeks! We have had a brilliant holiday with all the family – 3 generations together. The house is perfect and the pool was a huge hit especially with temperatures hitting 38-40 degrees!!

Particular places that EVERYONE MUST VISIT are the Ile de Ré and la Tranche sur Mer ! However, staying by the pool in the sunshine was just what the doctor ordered! AMAZING POOL!! Thank you so much for everything and we can’t wait to come again the same time next year!

Thank you for a lovely two week stay at The Cornflowers. The house was perfect for us and the pool a massive hit, especially with the children. One day Ernie spent a whole SIX hours in there. Weather has been great and we have enjoyed exploring the area. Loved Green Venice (Marais Poitevin/Venise Verte) and the children love O’Fun Park for a great day out.
We all loved a day out in La Rochelle. Fantastic wildlife and delicious food. The bakery in the nearby village is fabulous.
Favourite restaurants – La Trattoria Italiano in Luçon and L’Aubraie in Lavaud.

House is beautiful, although we hardly spent any time inside. Beautiful furniture and comfy clean beds. Pool and patio used all the time. Great garden for Eric (the dog) to play and shelter from the sun. We had a lovely relaxing time. Accommodation extremely well stocked. Will be back for sure, also Annette was lovely & helpful too!
* the only negative (sorry) is patio floor - this could be nicer. Concrete is not a good look.
In reply: the patio has now been changed from concrete to a paved terrace! Much nicer!

I really enjoyed my stay and mostly enjoyed the Wii. My friend Stanley enjoyed playing Lego Star Wars. We used the paints and it was very fun. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy the really comfy beds. The surrounding towns were really fun to visit, and I feel as though it were my second home. My personal favourite game on the Wii was Carnival.
Your holiday cottage gets an infinite number of stars from me! Also, the pool was brilliant and my three year old friend, Patrick, learnt how to jump in! Thank you for everything. PS: we had a very warm welcome. Tristan, aged 10.

The Cornflowers was great! The pool was refreshing and really nice. The house was spacious and felt like home. We went to the Puy du Fou and that was great – a ‘Must do’ day. Pool well used as weather was beautiful. House comfortable – some of the comfiest beds we’ve slept in in France.
Puy du Fou an hour away – stunning – worth the long day. La Rochelle – lovely for an evening, as is the L’Aubraie restaurant only 10 minutes away – river setting.
All in all – Fab 2 weeks.

A wonderful 2 weeks. The weather has been kind to us. Loved the O’Gliss Water Park and the pedalos on the river. Kids have enjoyed it so much we have booked to return next year!

We have had such a wonderful girls holiday. What a perfect place to stay and so comfortable. It really is a beautiful holiday home. We have so enjoyed our days by the pool but equally enjoyed our days out to the Ile de Ré, Luçon and the beach.

Lovely lazy week spent in this beautiful house with great friends. Food sourced from the market at Luçon and a fabulous meal out at St Cyr en Talmondais. Visit to the Ile de Ré – hired bikes and relaxed in the town’s many restaurants! Will be back again.

Such a beautiful house with so much care, thought and imagination put into the décor and furnishings. Everything was perfect! Luçon market provided delicious lunches and suppers, excellent local wines and cheeses. Cycled at the ile de Ré, visited La Tranche sur Mer and enjoyed fields of sunflowers. Our time lazing around the pool and sitting in the sun was fabulous! See you again soon Cornflowers!

We have had a really lovely holiday. Weather & pool were perfect for the first week; low temperatures and rain during the second week, but this dd not stop the fun.
Particularly enjoyed Sunday market at La Faute sur Mer, La Rochelle and the Ile Noirmoutier (Splendid Friday Market)
House comfortable, found everything that we needed.
