Vendée Holiday Cottages

Les Poiriers Holiday Cottage is located at the end of a quiet lane on the edge of Saint-Pierre-du-Chemin in the Vendée Bocage. A perfect cottage for groups of friends or an extended family get together. The cottage is within a short walk of the local bakery, bar and restaurant, plus there is a pharmacy and hairdressers in the village too.

Lounge: The ground floor of this cottage is open plan, and the lounge is a great place to catch up on the events of the day - with a 3 seater sofa and 2 two seater sofas. There is a flat screen TV with both UK and French TV channels, a DVD player & films, and WiFi in the house too.

Kitchen: The large kitchen is well equipped with a gas cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, tall fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster and filter coffee maker. The large dining table easily seats 10 guests and is located next to the kitchen.

Utility cupboard: Cleaning equipment and an ironing board & iron can be found in this storage cupboard next to the games room.

Games Room: Next to the kitchen is a games room complete with billiard table, dartboard and full-sized table football - hours of fun for everyone!

Shower room: Next to the games room is the ground floor shower room, with a shower cubicle, WC and hand basin with cupboards underneath.

Bedrooms: There are 4 first floor bedrooms: two have double beds, one has two single beds and the 4th bedroom is a family room, with a king sized bed and a set of bunk beds for younger children (There is a set of curtains between the bed and bunk beds for a little privacy. All bedrooms have plenty of storage in wardrobes and drawers.

Bathroom: Upstairs, there is a second bathroom with full-sized bath & overhead shower, hand basin and a WC.

Children: Two travel cots are available for your use, plus a highchair and there are stair gates at the top and bottom of the wooden staircase. There is also a set of plastic cutlery and crockery for children.

Outside Space: The 3.6m x 2.3m (1m-1.5m deep) pool is securely fenced off for the security of your children. It is open from the end of May until the end of September each year (depending upon the weather). There are 4 sun loungers set around the pool, plus there is a covered pergola on the gravelled terrace next to the pool - with a table and chairs for up to 10 guests for al fresco dining. There is also a covered BBQ area with a charcoal barbecue. This terrace has direct access to the lounge in the cottage.

Parking: There is off-road parking in front of the cottage for up to 4 cars.

Dogs: Dogs are not accepted at this property.

Accessibility: The cottage is not suitable for guests with limited mobility or wheelchairs as there is a step up at the entrance to the house, and a step down into the house, plus, all the bedrooms are on the first floor.

Les Poiriers Holiday Cottage is open from May until the end of September each year. From early July until the end of August, there is a 7 night minimum stay, outside of these dates there is a 2 night minimum stay.

All bed linens and towels are provided with this rental, but please bring your own beach / pool towels and cot bedding.

There is so much to do and see near to Les Poiriers Holiday Cottage! This 10 person holiday cottage is perfect for getaways with the family or a group of friends - and can be rented for whole weeks in summer, or for a minimum of 2 nights in May, June & September - great for long weekends away!

The Cottage is within an hour of the following attractions:

Puy du Fou: The main attraction in the area is the Puy du Fou Park - a multi Award-winning park with amazing shows. Step back in time to the age of the Gladiators, Vikings, Napoleonic sailors and Medieval Knights. The bird of prey show is fantastic, as is the late night Cinescenie Sound & Light show. This is a must see attraction of the Vendée where you could spend at least 2 full days exploring - You will not be disappointed!
Pescalis: If you enjoy fishing or walking around a lake, then this is the place to visit - only a 12 minute drive away.

Châteaux Country: If you want to explore the history of the area, then there are several châteaux to visit: St Mesmin, Bressuire, Pouzauges and Tiffauges are all worth a visit and many hold fêtes and festivals over the summer months.

Steam Trains: The Train à Vapeur leaves the station at Mortagne sur Sèvre heading towards St Laurent sur Sèvre travelling trough some lovely countryside. You can also travel in style in the Restaurant Carriage - decked out in the style of the Orient Express.

Parc Aventure 79 Chantemerle: Less than 15 minutes away is this amazing adventure park where you can climb through the trees, zoom around on zip wires, , play mini golf, enjoy a walk through the forest or take part in a digital treasure hunt. Perfect for all ages.

Terra Aventura at Largeasse: A Geo-caching route through nature, suitable for all ages.

Parc Oriental de Maulevrier: The largest Ido inspired gardens in western Europe. Set around a lake, with many beautiful vistas to see. In Spring the cherry blossom is amazing, in summer there are evening events with lanterns and the trees are illuminated - very peaceful to see at any time of the year.

Mauléon: This 'Petit Cité de Caractère' has over a 1000 years of history to explore.

Marais Poitevin: For a more tranquil day out, then a visit to the Marais Poitevin is perfect - miles of criss-crossing canals to explore, either on foot, by bike or by boat. The pretty canal side villages of Coulon and Maillezais have restaurants and cafés overlooking the waterways, plus a few ruined abbeys to visit too.
